Gangaur fast 2024: Gangaur Puja takes place every year on the Tritiya Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month. On that day, married women observe fast and worship for the long life and happy life of their husbands. Told that on Thursday 11th April, Gangaur will be worshiped and Gangaur’s ride will be taken out. This time 3 auspicious yogas are being formed on the day of Gangaur.
The specialty of this fast is that women observe it secretly. They do not tell their husbands about fasting and puja. This fast and worship is done without informing the husband. Unmarried girls also do the fast and worship of Gangaur so that they can get the life partner of their choice.

Gangaur Puja Date (Gangaur Vrat 2024 Tithi)
According to the Hindu calendar, this year the Tritiya Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month will start from 05:32 pm on 10th April. This date will end on April 11 at 03:03 pm. If seen on the basis of Udayatithi, this year Gangaur Puja will be held on Thursday 11th April.
Gangaur will be celebrated in 3 auspicious yoga (Gangaur Vrat 2024 Shubh yoga)
Ravi Yoga, Preeti Yoga and Ayushman Yoga have been formed on the day of Gangaur Puja on 11th April. Ravi Yoga is from 06:00 am in the morning till 01:38 midnight the next day on 12th April. At the same time, Preeti Yoga is till 07:19 in the morning and after that Ayushman Yoga will take place. Which will last till 04:30 am on 12th April. Then good fortune will be formed.
Why do women observe Gangaur fast and worship secretly?
According to the legend, once Mother Parvati fasted and worshiped Lord Shiva, but she did not want to tell Bholenath about it. Lord Shiva tried hard to tell, but Mother Parvati did not talk about it. She wanted to observe that fast secretly.
Because of this, every year women observe Gangaur fast and puja secretly from their husbands. Even the prasad offered during this fast and puja is not allowed to be eaten by her husband.
This festival is celebrated for 18 days
The festival of Gangaur in Rajasthan starts from the full moon day (Holi) of Phalgun month, which continues for the next 18 days. Every day during 18 days, idols of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati are made and worship and songs are sung. After this, on the third day of Chaitra Navratri, women do sixteen adornments, fast and worship and listen to the story of Gangaur in the evening.
It is believed that on the day of Badi Gangaur, the more ornaments are offered to Goddess Parvati, the more wealth and prosperity increases in the house. After the puja, women give these coins to their mother-in-law, sister-in-law, sister-in-law or sister-in-law. Guna was earlier called Gehna but now its corrupted name has become Guna.
Why is Gangaur festival special?
The word Gangaur is made up of two words Gana and Gaur. Where ‘Gan’ means Shiva and ‘Gaur’ means Mother Parvati. Actually, Gangaur Puja is dedicated to Shiva-Parvati. Therefore, on this day women make clay idols of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati and worship them. It is also known as Gauri Tritiya. It is believed that by observing this fast, women attain unbroken good fortune.
Unmarried girls also observe this fast to get a husband like Lord Shiva. According to religious beliefs, Mother Parvati travels with Lord Shiva to bless married women with unbroken good fortune. Women worship praying for happiness, prosperity in the family and protection of their married life.
