PM Narendra Modi US Visit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the Indian diaspora at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island on the second day of his three-day US visit. Grand preparations have been made for this mega event of PM Modi to be held in Long Island, New York. About 14,000 people are expected to attend this event. The name of PM’s program has been given as ‘Modi and US: Progress Together’. Organizers say that this program will highlight the close ties between India and America and the warm relationship between the American-Indian community. There is a lot of enthusiasm about this event among the NRIs.
Biden and PM Modi met
Earlier on Saturday, Prime Minister Modi met US President Joe Biden. Regarding the meeting of the two leaders, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that the two leaders, who met on the sidelines of the Quad summit, discussed ways to further deepen bilateral partnership in areas of mutual interest. “The leaders exchanged views on global and regional issues, including the Indo-Pacific region,” he said.
Biden welcomed PM Modi
Biden welcomed Modi at his residence in Wilmington, Delaware and the two leaders hugged each other. After this, Biden held Modi’s hand and took him inside his house where bilateral talks took place. Biden said on ‘X’, “America’s partnership with India is stronger, closer, and more dynamic than at any time in history. Whenever we sit with Prime Minister Modi, I am very pleased with our ability to find new areas of cooperation. Today was no different.”
How does China view Quad?
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Indian Ambassador to the US Vinay Mohan Kwatra are also present with PM Modi. The US team includes Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs TH Jake Sullivan and US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti. Modi, who is here on a three-day visit to America, also held separate bilateral meetings with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. The four-member Quad advocates maintaining a free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific region. China views it as an opposition group.
Indian expatriates welcomed PM Modi
Earlier, upon reaching America, a large group of Indian expatriates welcomed PM Modi at the Philadelphia International Airport. Modi greeted a group of people dressed in traditional attire, many of whom held the Indian tricolor. He walked through the security circle, gave ‘autographs’ to some of them and shook hands with some others. The Prime Minister said, “The Indian community has created its own identity in America and has made a positive impact in various fields. It is always a pleasure to interact with him.”
