Joint military exercise of India and Oman armies
The 5th edition of the ongoing joint military exercise Al Najah between India and Oman concluded on 26 September 2024. Indian Ambassador to Oman Amit Narang and Indian Defense Attache in Oman Captain Harish Srinivasan were present at the closing ceremony held at Rabkoot Training Area, Oman. From Oman’s side, the closing ceremony was attended by Brigadier General Abdulkadhim bin Ibrahim Al-Ajmi, Commander of the 11th Infantry Brigade of the Royal Army of Oman, and Lieutenant Colonel Masoud Mubarak Al-Ghafri, Commanding Officer of the Frontier Force.
60 soldiers from the armies of both the countries took part in the military exercise.
The closing ceremony was preceded by a grand joint live-fire demonstration by contingents of the Indian Army and the Royal Army of Oman, showcasing the jointness and inter-operability between the two armies to deal with various situations arising in UN peacekeeping operations. was demonstrated. About 60 soldiers from both the armies participated in this demonstration. The two-week long bilateral exercise has come to an end. The demonstration involved an isolation and evacuation exercise of a village in the desert area by a joint force of Indian and Omani soldiers riding in armored vehicles. After which the exercise of evacuating houses and rescuing hostages was also done. During the demonstration, snipers from both sides displayed their marksmanship skills and hit their targets accurately.

The highlight of the event was the use of state-of-the-art Indian equipment such as drones, which were used for interdiction and hostage protection. The exercise concluded with flag ceremony, equipment display and exchange of greetings by both the contingents. The successful completion of the joint exercise is a testimony to the commitment of both the countries to maintain world peace. The exercise not only improved the joint tactical skills of the troops but also deepened bilateral military ties between the two countries.
