Astrologer and Palmistry Vinod Soni Pauddar Ji says that Diwali is always celebrated on Amavasya. This is a festival celebrated on the new moon night. Deepotsav is celebrated at night only. Amavasya Tithi will be observed on 31st October 2024 i.e. Thursday at 2:40 PM. Before this is Chaturdashi Tithi. For this reason, Diwali will be celebrated on 31st this year only. On the festival of Diwali, Amavasya Tithi must fall on Maharatri. Udaya Tithi is not recognized in this and Amavasya Tithi is not available in the evening of 1 November 2024. It will end in the morning. In such a situation, celebrating Diwali on 1st November will not be considered auspicious. According to the scriptures, celebrating Diwali on 31st October is Shastra Samvat.
In simple language, any festival is celebrated only on the date of Purva Pradosh period. Similarly, Deepotsav is always celebrated on Pradoshvyapini Amavasya Tithi.
