People are crazy about samosa chaat, potato chaap and crispy masala at 17 year old Vikas Raikwar’s chaat centre.
All the items here are prepared with local spices. The taste is such that if you eat it once, you will feel like eating it again and again. People come to this shop from far and wide to eat samosa chaat. At the same time, people passing through this road do not go ahead without tasting the taste of this place. This chaat center is so popular that despite this shop being in a village, its operator’s daily earning is Rs 10,000.
Took training in Bengaluru 6 years ago
Vikas, the operator of the chaat center, says that he had started it 17 years ago on a hand cart, but initially he was not successful in it. Only expenses could be covered. He continued running the shop like this for 10 years, but 6 years ago he went to Karnataka to learn the recipe. There in Bengaluru, he worked in a restaurant and learned different types of recipes. After taking training he returned back to the village. Here again he started preparing dishes using local spices and special tricks. Gradually, when people came to know about this, the number of customers started increasing.

Now Vikas’s life has changed. His children study in a private school. The shop has been completed. Now he is providing employment to other people also. Vikas says that because there is a shop in the village, he gets local peas here. Pure cow curd is available. Chilli is bought original and dried. Then they get beaten. Dry salt is taken and ground using a hand mill at home. There are some other such spices which are secret. They are also prepared at home. When there is a combination of all these, the customers get a different taste at the shop.

Told that samosa chaat, potato chaap, crispy masala and phulki are available at the shop. The rate of one Samosa Chaat is Rs 15, while the rate of Double Samosa Chaat is Rs 25. Whereas the rate of Aloo Chaap and Khasta is Rs 25 a plate. Told that people become happy after eating it. His heart becomes happy. That’s why they just come to the shop again and again.
