Congress will fight a legal battle till the Supreme Court to challenge the candidature of Kailash Vijayvargiya

Congress on Wednesday alleged that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya has deliberately not given information about two separate pending court cases related to serious allegations of rape and defamation in the nomination filed for Indore-1 seat. Congress also said that it will contest in the assembly elections to be held on November 17 in the state. Kailash Vijayvargiya Will fight a legal battle till the Supreme Court to challenge his candidature.

BJP says that the ‘issue-less’ Congress has a premonition of its crushing defeat in the assembly elections, hence it has resorted to making base allegations against the BJP candidates. Congress national spokesperson Charan Singh Sapra said in a press conference in Indore that former Chhattisgarh Advocate General Kanak Tiwari had filed a defamation case against Vijayvargiya in a Durg court in 1999 and various summons and warrants issued in the name of BJP General Secretary have been served. If not, the court has declared him ‘absconding’ in this case since 2019.

He claimed that a case filed by a woman against Kailash Vijayvargiya and two others on charges of rape is also pending in a court in Alipore, West Bengal. Sapra alleged that Vijayvargiya deliberately hid information about both the cases pending in the courts of Durg and Alipore in the affidavit filed as BJP candidate from Indore-1 and this exposes BJP’s claims about political morality.

Congress spokesperson claimed that the objection of Congress candidate from Indore-1 Sanjay Shukla on Kailash Vijayvargiya hiding information about both the cases was rejected by the District Election Office due to ‘pressure’ from the ruling BJP. Sapra said, ‘Congress will fight a legal battle against Vijayvargiya’s candidature from the Central Election Commission to the Supreme Court. We will also take this matter to the public court in the elections.

State BJP spokesperson Govind Malu said, ‘Congress does not have any issue in the assembly elections. As soon as she became aware of her crushing defeat in the elections, she started making vile allegations against the BJP candidates. Vijayvargiya has already reacted to Congress’s allegations against his candidature.

He had said on Tuesday, ‘Congress should do clean politics and have a one-on-one election fight. Many cases are pending against me and there is no reason to hide the information about these cases from the government. Vijayvargiya had also said, ‘If any matter has been moved by mistake (while filling the affidavit), then we will correct this mistake.’
