The death toll in the devastating earthquake that hit Nepal on Friday night has reached 154. Hundreds of people are injured there. Nepal’s Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda visited the earthquake affected areas. The Prime Minister’s heart became as soft as a lotus for the victims of this massive earthquake. He took many injured people to the hospital by helicopter. Seeing this, the eyes of Nepalese were filled with tears of emotion. Prime Minister Prachanda directed hospitals for better treatment of the injured. He took with him some people injured in the earthquake from Jajarkot and took them in his helicopter to the hospital in Surkhet, where all of them are being treated.

According to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre, the earthquake occurred at 11.47 pm, with its epicenter in Jajarkot district. The impact of the earthquake was felt in Kathmandu, its surrounding districts and even in New Delhi, the capital of neighboring India. According to state-run ‘Nepal Television’, Jajarkot and Rukum districts of western Nepal were worst affected due to the earthquake.
Death toll from earthquake is continuously increasing
According to the Home Ministry, it is not known how many houses were damaged due to the earthquake. But there is a possibility of the death toll increasing. Officials said that Nepal’s Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ left for the incident site with a medical team on Saturday morning. He said that Nepal Army and Nepal Police have been deployed in rescue operations. All three security agencies of the country – Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Forces – have been deployed in rescue operations. The Prime Minister’s Office wrote on the social media platform ‘X’, “Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal has expressed deep condolences over the loss of life and property in the earthquake that occurred on Friday night.
Rescue operations disrupted due to damage to roads and bridges
The PM has deployed all three security bodies for immediate relief and rescue. Officials said that the injured are undergoing treatment at Surkhet District Hospital. The Prime Minister has instructed the security agencies to carry out rescue and relief work immediately. He said that rescue and relief work at the incident site has been disrupted due to blocked roads and damaged bridges. The earthquake was followed by at least four aftershocks of magnitude greater than 4 in Jajarkot.
