Bhupesh Baghel: Terming the Enforcement Directorate (ED) allegations against Chhattisgarh as a ‘conspiracy’ to tarnish the image of the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and his government, the Congress on Saturday (November 4) said that the people of the state will vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in this assembly election. Will give a befitting reply.
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh alleged that the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeing BJP’s defeat certain, has started misusing the ED on a large scale. The Enforcement Directorate on Friday claimed that it has recorded the statement of a person involved in money laundering, who alleged that the promoters of Mahadev betting app have paid Rs 508 crore to Baghel so far.
BJP leader and Union Minister Smriti Irani on Saturday hit out at Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, alleging that the Congress used hawala money brought by people involved in illegal betting to finance its election campaign in the state. Later, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also addressed an election rally in Durg and said that the strings of Mahadev App scams go to ‘him’. The PM was referring to Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.
After these allegations of BJP, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh told reporters, ‘BJP’s defeat is certain and that is why misuse of CBI and ED has been started on a large scale. This is politics of vengeance. Congress Organization General Secretary KC Venugopal said that Congress government is going to be formed in five states. When BJP sees that things are out of its hands, it uses its last weapon, ED.
Venugopal said that the purpose of this entire action is to tarnish the image of Bhupesh Baghel and Chhattisgarh government. This conspiracy has been hatched by the Prime Minister (Narendra Modi). He said that the people of Chhattisgarh will give a befitting reply to BJP. Senior advocate and Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi alleged that the ED office is an office of lies and in reality this agency is a ‘parrot’.
