Brazil Help India Boost Ethanol With Share Technology To Settle Sugar Dispute Know Everything

Brazil: Brazil has offered to share its ethanol production technology with India. Brazilian Agriculture and Livestock Minister Carlos Favaro said in an interview that Brazil has started sharing technology with India. In such a situation, India will be known as an ethanol producing country in the coming times.

According to the Financial Express report, an official said that Brazil started talks in the World Trade Organization to mutually resolve the sugar-related trade dispute. For this, Brazil has offered to share its ethanol production technology with India. The official further said that Brazil has offered the ethanol technology to India to utilize its excess sugar production and reduce competition for Brazil in the international market.

Brazil leads in ethanol production

Let us tell you that ethanol is produced from sugarcane in Brazil and Brazil is very ahead in this technology. In such a situation, India will also become self-reliant by acquiring ethanol production technology from Brazil. Let us tell you that Brazil is the largest producer of sugarcane in the world. After this, India comes next in sugarcane production. India is the world’s second largest producer of sugar. On one hand, Brazil exported sugar worth about $11 billion in 2022. Whereas India exported sugar worth about 5.7 billion dollars.

India will benefit greatly

In such a situation, India can benefit greatly from this proposal of Brazil. Actually, India’s aim is to gradually increase the percentage of ethanol blending in petroleum auto fuel and reduce dependence on imported crude oil. In such a situation, ethanol production technology will prove effective for India.

Target of 20 percent ethanol blending

Brazil has a flex technology. In such a situation they mix ethanol. Brazil has argued that India can use its surplus sugar for ethanol production and through this India can meet its fuel needs. Let us tell you that India is dependent on imports to meet 85 percent of its oil needs. Along with this, the target is to mix 20 percent ethanol in petrol by 2025.

Making ethanol easier for India

It is known that America and Brazil together produce 84 percent of the world’s total ethanol production. Although India has enough material available to make ethanol, hence abundant quantity of ethanol can be obtained in the country.
