Israel Hamas War Gaza Ceasefire Resolution Pass In UN India Supports While Some Countries Oppose

Israel Hamas War Update: Amid the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas, a resolution regarding Gaza ceasefire was passed with an overwhelming majority in the United Nations General Assembly. 153 countries voted in favor of this proposal, in which India was also included. Whereas 10 countries including America and Israel voted against it and 23 countries did not take part in the voting.

The resolution passed in the UN demands an immediate humanitarian ceasefire, the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages as well as ensuring humanitarian access. Apart from this, the resolution also demanded that all parties comply with their obligations under international law, including humanitarian law, regarding the protection of civilians.

What did India say?

Regarding the proposal, India’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Ruchi Kamboj, said that on October 7, a major terrorist attack took place in Israel and this is a huge humanitarian crisis. Due to this, human life is being harmed on a large scale.

He said, “India has voted in favor of the resolution recently adopted by the General Assembly. The situation being discussed by the August body has many dimensions. Which includes the concern about the terrorist attack on Israel on October 7 and the people taken hostage. There is a huge humanitarian crisis and massive loss of civilian life, especially the lives of women and children. Adhering to international humanitarian law in all circumstances is an issue. “Efforts are being made to find a peaceful and permanent two-state solution to the long-standing Palestine issue.”

This proposal could not be passed
