Pakistani Snooker Player Majid Ali:
Pakistan has got another big blow from the sports world within a month. Pakistan’s top snooker player and Asian Under-21 silver medalist Majid Ali committed suicide. Majeed committed suicide on Thursday in his hometown Samundari near Faisalabad in Punjab.
Majid Ali was 28 years old. According to the police, Majeed was reportedly suffering from depression since his playing days. It is being told that he killed himself with a wood cutting machine.
Family sources told Geo News that Ali was battling depression for several years. Ali was the Asian U21 silver medallist. Majeed has represented Pakistan in many international tournaments and was the top snooker player at the national level.
The news of the death of another snooker player has come to the fore within a month in Pakistan. Majeed’s death is the second tragic incident after Mohd Bilal’s cardiac arrest last month. Alamgir Sheikh, chairman of Pakistan Billiards and Snooker, said the entire community was saddened by Majeed’s death.
Majid’s brother Omar confirmed
The circumstances surrounding Majeed’s death were particularly shocking and disturbing, according to reports. Majid’s brother Umar confirmed that his death was the result of suicide. Majeed took the extreme step with a wood-cutter in his hometown Samundari near Faisalabad.
Majeed was a victim of depression from the beginning
Majeed’s brother Umar said that Majeed had been suffering from depression since he was a teenager and recently suffered another bout of depression. Omar said, “It is a terrible thing for us because we never thought that he would take his own life.”
