After last year’s earthquake in Nepal, people are facing the challenge of rebuilding their homes and getting their lives back on track. Now India has once again taken up the responsibility of helping its neighboring country. External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar on Friday announced that India will continue to provide assistance and provide $75 million to rebuild infrastructure in the earthquake-hit western district of Nepal.
Jaishankar on his first foreign trip this year
Let us tell you, Jaishankar reached Nepal on Thursday on his first foreign trip of this year. He along with his Nepali counterpart NP Saud jointly inaugurated the Tribhuvan University Central Library and other reconstruction projects in Kathmandu following the 2015 earthquake.
Sad to know the deaths due to earthquake
The External Affairs Minister said India was saddened to learn about the deaths and destruction caused by the earthquake that hit western parts of Nepal in November last year. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also expressed solidarity with the people and leadership of Nepal and has committed to provide all possible assistance.

He said, ‘We stand with the people of Nepal and will always stand. Therefore, we told Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda yesterday that we will give 1,000 crore Nepali rupees, or 75 million dollars, to rebuild the infrastructure in the affected districts.
