Maldives Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer React On Remarks Against PM Modi

Maldives Foreign Minister Musa Jamir has expressed displeasure over the objectionable remarks made by Maldivian Minister Mariam Shiuna on social media about Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has termed such comments as unacceptable.

In his post shared on social media platform X, he said, ‘Such comments against foreign leaders and leaders of neighboring nations are unacceptable. It does not reflect the official position of the Government of Maldives. We are committed to promoting positive dialogue with all our partners and neighboring nations.

After the objectionable remarks made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his visit to Lakshadweep, the Deputy Minister of Maldives as well as many cabinet members created a ruckus. Let us tell you that on January 2, PM Modi visited the Union Territory of Lakshadweep and shared pictures of this visit on social media. He also mentioned his experience of trying his hand at snorkeling.

Former President of Maldives condemned

On this post of PM Modi, Lakshadweep Minister Maryam Shiuma had made fun of the Prime Minister of India with derogatory remarks. His post also contained pictures of PM Modi’s visit to Lakshadweep. Former Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih also objected to this comment and said that India has always been a good friend of Maldives. He said on social media platform X, ‘I condemn the objectionable comments made against PM Modi on social media. He further said that such comments have a negative impact on the age-old relations between the two countries.

Former Foreign Minister of Maldives Abdulla Shaheed has also termed such remarks as condemnable. He reprimanded the Maldivian government for this matter and demanded to identify the officials responsible in this matter.
