BCI has announced its 16-member squad for the first two test matches of this series. 4 spinners and 3 wicketkeepers have been included in the team. Dhruv Jurel has got a place in the Test squad for the first time. This 22 year old wicketkeeper has made a splash in domestic cricket and IPL. Just a day after getting a place in the Test team, Jurel celebrated joining the national team by scoring a half-century. He scored a brilliant half century against England.

Jurel scored 50 runs in 38 balls in the 2-day practice match played against England Lions (IND A vs ENG Lions) in Ahmedabad. He hit 5 fours and 3 sixes in his half-century innings.

This practice match played at B Ground in Ahmedabad was a draw. England Lions scored 233 runs in the first innings. In reply, India A team declared its innings at 462 runs for 8 wickets.
