Actor Sunil Shetty recently told during an interview why he did not want his children to study in an Indian school. Sunil told in a conversation with Nikhil Kamat that he wanted his children Athiya and Ahaan to get a normal upbringing. He told that Athiya had decided at the last moment that she wants to go to the movies. By then he had also got admission in the college. Perhaps Athiya must have been interested in films since the beginning.
Why did you decide to send your children abroad?
Referring to his initial challenges, Sunil Shetty said that the criticism he received due to films affected not only him but also his family. He said, I had thought that I will not put my children in Indian school but in such a school which has American board and faculty. Because I didn’t want anyone to give them special treatment or troll them because of whose child they are. I told them to send them to a world where no one cares who they are. Perhaps I have also benefited from it. I remember at that time my father said that it would mean a lot of money but I convinced him.

Sunil Shetty told that he never asked his children to become actors. After taking admission in college, Athiya decided at the last moment that she wanted to act. He said, we had gone to Atlanta for Athiya’s admission. She went to college…everything was done but while returning from there she told me that she wants to be in entertainment and film business.
