An X user has shared a photo of a dead cockroach ‘found’ inside the food served to passengers on the Vande Bharat Express (Vande Republic of India Specific). He told that this incident happened with his uncle and aunt, who had gone to Agra from Bhopal on June 18. Varshney also urged the authorities to take “strict action” against the seller. Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) responded to his post and “apologized” for the inconvenience. He further said that “appropriate” penalty has been imposed on the service providers.

Nitish Kumar, an ex-user, said, “If people see the condition of the canteen where food is prepared, most people will never order. I like to bring home-cooked food whenever possible,” said another, adding, “Whenever a person complains, the Railways only asks for details and then takes no action. Not only the quality of the food, but also the overcharging in the pantries. The authorities are well aware of this but are not taking action due to some ‘other reason’. X user Firoz Ahmed said, “I do not eat railway food. Take your home-cooked food with you.” A fourth wrote, ”Thinking about those who ate the leftover food from this portion.”
