A person named Chanchal Kumar was going to a medical store to buy medicines in Kanaur village of Bahadurgarh police station area, about 91 kilometers from Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow. His phone fell somewhere on the way and was not found even after a lot of searching, after which Chanchal reached the police station. After listening to everything, the officers at the police station, instead of writing a complaint, asked the complainant to bring one kilo of hot jalebi or balushahi. When Chanchal was convinced that the police officer would not file a complaint without Jalebi, he bought Jalebi and only after that his complaint was registered.

This is not the first issue of demand before writing the complaint of UP Police. Even before this, many such cases have come to light, after which officers were also suspended. In the same month, a sub-inspector of Kannauj was suspended due to the demand for ‘potatoes’. Investigation revealed that ‘potato’ is a code word used for bribe.
