John Rennie was a house painter who lived in Monmouthshire, UK, who died on May 31, 1832, at the age of 33, after which this 285-letter puzzle was placed on his grave. It is believed that this puzzle stone was prepared by John Rennie himself. By doing this he wanted to confuse the ‘Satan’, so that after his death ‘Satan’ could not take him to ‘Hell’ and his going to ‘Heaven’ could be confirmed.
