Wow Delhi! You killed my dreams…the girl died while making rounds of hospitals.

New Delhi. The condition of Delhi’s hospitals, which promised to provide better health care, is getting worse day by day. People were already finding it difficult to get timely treatment in hospitals like AIIMS, RML and Safdarjung. Now it has become difficult to get treatment even in Delhi government hospitals. People of the areas adjacent to Delhi feel that they will get better treatment by going to the hospitals of the capital, but after coming here, they are feeling disappointed. People feel that if beds are not available in AIIMS, Safdarjung and RML, then they will go to other hospitals of Delhi and get treatment. But, such people are now feeling disappointed even after visiting hospitals like LNJP, GB Pant, Chacha Nehru, Lady Hardinge and Kalavati.

There is severe lack of facilities in 39 hospitals including Delhi Government’s biggest hospitals Lok Nayak, GB Pant, GTB. Being the capital, people from nearby states immediately come to Delhi for better treatment. But, after coming to Delhi they are not able to get a bed. Leave aside CT scan and MRI, the date for ultrasound is also available after 2-3 years i.e. 2025. There is a severe lack of facilities in Delhi’s hospitals, especially for newborn children.

Being the capital of the country, people from nearby states immediately come to Delhi for better treatment.

This is the condition of Delhi’s hospitals
Poonam, a resident of Mathura, says in a conversation with News 18 Hindi, ‘My sister gave birth to a baby girl just a few days ago. Due to being a premature baby, many problems started. She was treated for several days at Vatsalya City Clinic in Mathura, but the girl’s condition was continuously worsening. Seeing the deteriorating condition of the girl, the family decided to come to Delhi.

The girl died in agony
Poonam further says, ‘On March 11, we came to Delhi with the girl. Doctors in Mathura said that the girl was having trouble breathing and there was a blood clot in the brain. We had spent a lot of money on the girl in Mathura and the girl needed immediate treatment. It was difficult to get immediate treatment at AIIMS, so we thought of going to the children’s hospital instead of going to AIIMS or Safdarjung. First of all we reached Chacha Nehru Hospital with the girl. After waiting there for hours, I was told that the bed was not vacant.

Poonam further says, ‘Then we took the girl to Kalavati Hospital. Here also it was said that the bed is not vacant. After this we reached Lady Hardinge Hospital. Here also it was said that beds are not available. After this we went to RML and after waiting for hours there was no bed available. After this, when we went to LNJP Hospital, there too we were told that immediate treatment is difficult. The girl’s condition was continuously deteriorating due to the rush of hospitals. Tired and exhausted, they returned to Mathura and the girl died on Wednesday morning.

Let us tell you that this is not the story of a girl. Such incidents are happening with many girls every day in Delhi. Patients are being given longer dates for examination in hospitals. Four patients are being treated on each bed in the hospitals. This is the condition of the health system of the capital.

Recently, there was a debate between Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal regarding the poor condition of government hospitals. LG had asked for a report from Kejriwal regarding the condition of hospitals. On the other hand, Delhi High Court had also recently reprimanded the Delhi government for the poor health system of the capital. The court had taken cognizance of the report of the Delhi government which stated that there are only 6 CT scan machines for the 39 government hospitals of Delhi.
