Rourkela: The Indian Men’s Hockey Team ended the home leg of the FIH Pro League on a winning note by defeating lower-ranked team Ireland 4-0 here on Sunday. Neelkant Sharma (14th minute), Akashdeep Singh (15th), Gurjant Singh (38th) and Jugraj Singh (60th) scored goals for India.
Neelkant Sharma and Jugraj scored goals from penalty corners while Akashdeep and Gurjant scored field goals. India dominated the match from start to finish and were leading 2-0 at half-time.
The Indian team is currently in third place with 15 points from eight matches with five wins and three losses. Netherlands team is at the top with 26 points while Australia is at second place with 20 points. The Harmanpreet Singh-led team will now take part in the European stage of the Pro League in May-June.
