IPL 2024 – Hyderabad wins over Rajasthan by one run

Hyderabad, , Bhuvneshwar Kumar took a brilliant 3-41 while Pat Cummins and T Natarajan took two wickets each as Sunrisers Hyderabad secured a thrilling one-run win over Rajasthan Royals on Thursday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium here.
Nitish Reddy produced a brilliant display of stroke-play, scoring unbeaten 76 off 42 balls while Travis Head scored 58 off 44 balls as the duo took SRH to a mammoth score of 201/3, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar brilliant Took two wickets. The host team won by a small margin by dismissing Rovman Powell in the first over and on the last ball.
Despite the initial shock of losing Jos Buttler and captain Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 67 off 40 balls and Riyan Parag’s 77 off 49 balls helped RR seal an impressive win. But once the duo’s 133-run partnership was broken, SRH stormed back into the game to seal it and pull off a remarkable comeback, handing RR their first defeat while chasing in the season.
The thrilling win takes SRH to fourth place, where they are level with Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants on 12 points. While chasing RR’s target of 202 runs, Bhuvneshwar did wonders in the initial over itself. Buttler edged past the wide slip fielder for a golden duck, while Samson was stumped through the gate by an inswinger. Jaiswal with his timing and Parag with his brilliant bat-swing dismissed Bhuvneshwar, Pat Cummins, Marco Johnson and Played breathtaking strokes from both ends against T Natarajan. Luck also favored him as Cummins dismissed Jaiswal at mid-off and Parag’s chance was lost by Abhishek Sharma at extra cover. Meanwhile, RR ended the power-play at 60/2. Jaiswal and Parag’s havoc continued after the power-play before reaching their respective fifties in 30 and 31 balls respectively in the 11th over. But Jaiswal was out on Natarajan’s stumps after scoring 67 runs in 40 balls. Parag hit two sixes and a four before dismissing Cummins at long-on for 77 runs in 49 balls. Cummins bowled the 19th over brilliantly and gave only seven runs, while Powell hit a six over extra cover on the last ball. With 12 runs needed to win in the final over and with four men outside the 30-yard circle due to the slow over rate, Powell dismissed Bhuvneshwar with four runs remaining. With two runs needed off the final ball, Bhuvneshwar trapped Powell Plumb LBW with a low full toss on middle and leg to seal a stunning win for SRH over the table-toppers.
