BCCI has set some conditions for the franchises. Notably, the BCCI has indicated that no Chinese product or its sponsor brand will be used in the IPL. Also, brands and things of those countries with which India does not have good relations will not be used.
However, during this period BCCI has not mentioned any country. But this stance and decision of BCCI clearly shows that they are pointing towards the Chinese brand. Because China’s relations with India are nothing special. This situation arose after the border dispute and now the situation is that no Chinese brand will be used in IPL. Not only this, all the IPL franchises will have to give a list to BCCI, which will have the details of all its shareholders and companies.
Not only this, according to the news of Cricbuzz, the reserve price for the IPL title sponsor is Rs 360 crore. Apart from this, companies related to betting, fantasy games, sportswear, alcohol products and cryptocurrency will not be part of the auction for IPL title sponsor.
For your information, let us tell you that even before the IPL 2022 mega auction, BCCI had expelled Chinese mobile manufacturer Vivo from the IPL. In its place, Tata Group, one of the largest business groups of India (Tata group new IPL sponsor) was made the sponsor of IPL. Tata is still with IPL.
Let us tell you that BCCI is looking for a title sponsor. Will be the title sponsor of IPL for the next 5 years. Which means that this contract will be applicable from IPL 2024 and will last till IPL 2028. At present BCCI has kept the reserve price for this at Rs 360 crore annually.
