Jagdeep Dhankhar TMC (Trinamool Congress) MP Kalyan Banerjee, who created a controversy by mimicking Dhankhar, once again imitated Dhankhar on Sunday. Describing it as a form of art, Banerjee said that he would continue to imitate them.
Kalyan Banerjee said that he would do this a thousand times and it is his fundamental right to do so. He said, ‘I will keep doing mimicry. It is an art. I would do it a thousand times if necessary. I have all the fundamental rights to express my views. You can put me in jail. I will not Back Down.’
Speaking at an event in West Bengal’s Shrirampur, TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee also criticized Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar for getting upset over a ‘trivial issue’. It is noteworthy that on Monday, TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee was seen imitating Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar in the Parliament complex. Later, Jagdeep Dhankhar issued a statement saying that he cannot tolerate the insult to Parliament and the post of Vice President. He expressed deep sorrow over a TMC MP copying him in the Parliament complex and a Congress MP recording it.
Referring to Vice President Dhankhar’s statement that Banerjee’s imitation insulted the farming community, the TMC MP said, ‘Dhankhar has property worth crores in Jodhpur and a luxurious flat in Delhi. He wears suits worth lakhs of rupees. He also questioned Dhankhar’s silence on the announcement of returning Padma Shri by ‘farmer’s daughter Sakshi Malik’ and ‘Jat’s son’ Bajrang Punia. Apart from this, TMC MP Banerjee also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the security lapse in Parliament.
Kalyan Banerjee said that ‘a BJP MP had issued visitor passes to two infiltrators. To save him, 146 opposition MPs were suspended. After the mimicry incident, a complaint was lodged against Kalyan Banerjee at a police station in the national capital. According to South Delhi Police DCP, the complaint was sent by a lawyer named Abhishek Gautam to the city’s Defense Colony police station.
