Sydney: The contract of fast bowler Shamar Joseph, who played a brilliant role in West Indies’ victory over Australia, was upgraded to ‘International Retainer’. Now he is associated with Cricket West Indies on the same type of retainer contract as Cricket Australia and other cricket playing countries make central contracts with their players.
This type of contract is given to players who play international matches regularly. Joseph previously had a franchise contract and had not played international cricket before the two-match Test series against Australia.

In Brisbane, Joseph took seven wickets for 68 runs and West Indies registered an upset victory over Australia by eight runs. Joseph thus joins the likes of Kraigg Brathwaite, Joshua Da Silsa and Kemar Roach in earning international retainer contracts for the West Indies.
