Chennai Super Kings coach Stephen Fleming said that Dhoni is the heartbeat of Chennai Super Kings.

Lucknow: Describing Mahendra Singh Dhoni as the ‘heartbeat’ of Chennai Super Kings, coach Stephen Fleming said that despite his excellent form, he cannot bat for a long time after recovering from a knee injury. He cannot be sent higher in the batting order. 42-year-old Dhoni scored 28 runs in nine balls against Lucknow Super Giants on Friday but his team lost by eight wickets.

Regarding Dhoni’s form, Fleming said, “It is inspiring isn’t it? He is batting very well even during practice. The team is not surprised by this because he was playing brilliantly in preparation before the season as well.” He said, “He has pain in his knee and he can play only a few balls in the process of recovery from it.” He said, “Everyone wants to see him bat for a long time but we want to see him play the entire tournament.” Therefore it is better to play two-three overs. He is playing his role very well all the time and it is fun to watch him.”

Fleming, who has been the coach of Chennai for a long time, said that Dhoni, who has won the team title five times, is the heartbeat of the team and the team is enjoying every moment of his presence amid the immense love he is getting from the spectators at every stadium. He said, “What an amazing atmosphere there is when he comes on the field.” He also entertains the audience thoroughly. We are proud of their achievements. He is the heartbeat of the team. We thoroughly enjoy every minute of his presence.”
