Rinku Singh on Suryakumar Yadav IND vs SL: India’s young batsman Rinku Singh emerged as a star in the third and final T20 International match against Sri Lanka, but not in batting but in the role of bowler. When the host team was moving towards victory while chasing the target of 137 runs for eight wickets, then captain Suryakumar Yadav handed the ball to Rinku, then Sri Lanka (IND vs SL) team needed nine runs from 12 balls. This 26-year-old right-arm off-spinner, however, did not disappoint. He took two wickets in his only over. In this he gave only three runs and took the wickets of Kusal Perera and Ramesh Mendis.

Then after 20 overs, due to the score being equal, the match went into Super Over in which India was the winner. Rinku later admitted that Surya had already told her that she might have to bowl if needed. In a video posted on the website of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), he said, “I have taken a lot of wickets in domestic cricket and I have also taken one wicket in ODIs. Surya had told me to be ready to bowl in the series.
He said, “Although I had not bowled before this match. But Surya Bhai had asked me to keep practicing my bowling.” Rinku said, “I did not expect that I would be asked to bowl during the match because the situation was quite delicate. But he asked me to bowl. And when I started bowling, it was God’s plan that I got two wickets.Â
