Who will open for India in the series against Sri Lanka, not one but 4 contenders in the queue

IND vs SL 2024: After the series against Zimbabwe, the Indian team will now play 3 ODIs and a three-match T20 series against Sri Lanka. T20 series will be played first. After this the ODI series is going to be played. Kohli and Rohit Sharma took the responsibility of opening for India in the T20 World Cup. But now both these giants have separated from T-20. Actually, there is no confirmation yet whether Rohit Sharma will play the ODI series against Sri Lanka or not. Abhishek Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal

In the T-20 series against Zimbabwe, Abhishek Sharma along with Gill played the responsibility of opening for India in some matches. While opening, Abhishek also scored a record-breaking century in the second T20. Abhishek played the role of opener in two matches against Zimbabwe. After this, Abhishek batted at number 3 in the next three matches. Abhishek has shown his talent. Abhishek had opened in IPL also. In such a situation, Abhishek is also one of the contenders for the opening batsmanship in the T-20 series against Sri Lanka.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill

Jaiswal is the fittest batsman for opening. Jaiswal is playing the role of opener very well in ODI and T-20. In the last three matches against Zimbabwe, Jaiswal formed an opening partnership with Gill which was quite successful. In such a situation, Jaiswal is also at the forefront among the contenders for the position of opener batsman.

Shubman Gill can open with Jaiswal in ODI

Gill opened the batting in the T-20 series against Zimbabwe. But in T20, Gill is not able to score runs as fast as can be expected. In such a situation, Gambhir can especially consider the opening pair of Jaiswal and Abhishek Sharma in place of Gill in T20. On the other hand, if Rohit Sharma does not play the ODI series, then the pair of Gill and Jaiswal can be formed for opening in ODIs.

There is another option for opener in the form of Rituraj Gaikwad.

At the same time, Gaikwad is also presenting his claim as an opener. Gaikwad used to open for CSK in IPL and Gaikwad has batted as an opener before also. In such a situation, especially Jaiswal and Gaikwad can become the opening pair in the T-20 series.
