New Delhi: There is complete arrangement for food and drinks during air travel. From time to time, air hostesses come and keep asking for food and drinks. Passengers also enjoy snacks inside the plane with great pleasure. The pleasure of eating noodles etc. in flight is different. But now you will not be able to demand a specific thing from the air hostess. Yes, now an airline has removed one of your favorite food items from the food served during air travel.
Yes, Korean Air has announced that from August 15, it will not serve ‘instant noodles’ to economy class passengers on long-haul flights. Yes, if you board an economy class flight of Korean Air, you will not be able to ask the air hostess to eat noodles. The reason behind this has been said to be air turbulence. According to Korean Airlines, there are often burning incidents due to hot water when serving Ramyeon instant noodles. In economy class, flight attendants or air hostesses have to carry several cups of noodles filled with hot water and the passengers are also sitting close to each other. In such a situation, there is a higher risk of burning.
Decision only for economy class
The airline said that this change in the food served in flights on long distance routes has been made due to air turbulence i.e. ‘increasing disturbance in the air’. According to the airline, the air turbulence number in 2024 has more than doubled compared to 2019. Korean Air said the move is part of a “proactive initiative” aimed at “preventing burn accidents.”
What argument did the company give?
The company said in its statement, ‘Self-service snack bars are also available on long-haul flights to provide greater satisfaction to passengers and to diversify food options. We are committed to ensuring the safety of passengers and will offer food as per the choice of customers on every route. These snacks include sandwiches, corn dogs, pizza and hot pockets. However, passengers traveling in Prestige and First-Class cabins will still get Ramyeon instant noodles on board the aircraft.
