Bangladesh Interim Government : After the political coup of Sheikh Hasina, a new interim government is functioning in Bangladesh, but now questions are being raised about the roadmap of interim government chief Mohammad Yunus. Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has expressed displeasure over Mohammad Yunus’s address to the nation. The party leader has also issued a statement. BNP said that in the Chief Advisor’s speech there was no clear roadmap to take the country towards democracy. BNP General Secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam said that Yunus’s address to the nation did not show any roadmap to take democracy on the path. However, he expressed hope that the interim government will soon hold talks with the parties to take a decision on the elections.
What did Yunus say?
In fact, Yunus said in his address on Sunday that his government will conduct free, fair, inclusive elections in the country and make reforms in various sectors. Yunus said that fair and inclusive elections will be held after the completion of necessary reforms on administration, judiciary, Election Commission and law and order. The timing of elections is a political decision and people will decide how long this interim government will remain in power. On this the BNP leader said that we are still confused because things are unclear. We had anticipated that the consultants would present a roadmap. But we did not see anything in his speech. Yunus hinted at some reforms in his speech, but these cannot be implemented in a short time.
need to discuss with politicians
However, BNP leader Fakhrul also admitted that the situation is moving in a positive direction for the benefit of the people. He said, Yunus was right in saying that the timing of elections is a matter of political decision, but to take this decision the government needs to discuss with the parties.
