Top White House counsel Ed Siskel said in a letter to Johnson on Friday that testimony and documents submitted to the Oversight and Judiciary Committees failed to establish any wrongdoing. He said even Republican witnesses have blunted the impeachment effort. The letter comes a month after federal prosecutors charged an ex-FBI informant who was the source of some of the most explosive allegations of lying about Biden and undisclosed Russian intelligence contacts.
Wasting time on impeachment called gimmick
βIt is definitely time to move forward (dropping the case), Mr. Chairman,β Siskel wrote. This impeachment is over. There is more important work to be done for the American people than to continue wasting time on this gimmick.β He said that wasting time on the impeachment which has ended on its own is no less than a gimmick. Therefore that time should not be let go. (AP)
