Gunfire, Explosions Reported At Turbat International Airport Near Naval Air Station In Pakistan

Terrorists attempted to attack Turbat International Airport and Naval Air Base in Pakistan’s restive Baluchistan province on Monday night. According to media reports, Pakistani security forces foiled the attack on the naval airbase and killed four terrorists. At the same time, there was no damage to Siddiq Airbase in the attack. Officials said that when the terrorists tried to enter the naval facility in Turbat district of Balochistan, they were immediately identified and killed. However, the Pakistani Army has not yet commented on this incident.

Initial reports said that on Monday night, terrorists attacked Turbat International Airport (TUK) and PNS Siddiq, Pakistan’s second largest naval air station. Heavy firing and explosions were reported near both facilities. News agency ANI quoting The Balochistan Post said that there has been a terrorist attack on Pakistan’s second largest naval air station PNS Siddiq in Turbat. Several explosions have also been reported in the area. After the terrorist attack, health officials have declared emergency in the hospitals of Turbat and all doctors have been asked to report for duty immediately.

BLA’s Majid Brigade took responsibility for the attack

According to media reports, the Majeed Brigade of the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for the attack on the naval airbase in Turbat. Let us tell you, Majeed Brigade opposes China’s investment in Balochistan province. The organization alleges that China and Pakistan are misusing the resources of the region. According to media reports, BLA has claimed that many of its fighters have entered the airbase. Chinese drones are also deployed at this airbase.

Gwadar port was attacked on 20 March

Earlier, on March 20, BLA’s Majeed Brigade had carried out a terrorist attack in Gwadar Port Authority Complex located in Balochistan, in which two Pakistani soldiers and eight terrorists were killed. The Pakistani Army had said in a statement that eight terrorists attempted to enter the Port Authority Complex, but the attack was successfully foiled by security forces.

Gwadar port, built in partnership with China, is important for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). This includes road and energy projects worth billions of dollars. It is also a part of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
