According to Nunzio Quacquarelli, founder of British ranking institute Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), there has been a significant improvement of 14 percent year-on-year in the average ranking of Indian universities among the G-20 countries.
Quacquarelli wrote in a post that India has grown fastest in the world in terms of research. Its research output has increased by 54 percent from 2017 to 2022, taking India to fourth place in this field.
He also attributed the importance of the visionary policies of PM Narendra Modi to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 for the progress of higher education in India. Recalling the meeting with the PM, he said that during the conversation it became clear that PM Modi has a passionate commitment to bring revolutionary change in Indian education, which is reflected in the ambitious goal of the NEP.
Quacquarelli made this reference to the performance of India’s universities in the latest QS World University Rankings published on April 10. It has been told that the performance of Indian universities has improved the most this year among the G-20 countries. In the ranking, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has been ranked 20th in the global list and first in India.
