Navbharat Digital Desk: The government has considered the marriage of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan with Bushra Bibi as illegal. According to media reports, Imran and Bushra have been sentenced to 7 years each in the case of ‘non-Islamic marriage’. The hearing of this case was conducted inside the jail itself.
Actually, Bushra Bibi was accused of not completing the required waiting period, called Iddat, between divorcing her first husband Farid Maneka and marrying Imran Khan. According to Shariat in Islam, a Muslim woman is prohibited from remarrying for some time after the death of her husband. During the period of Iddat i.e. for a fixed period of time, a woman cannot marry again. This fixed time is called Iddat. This time is of 4 months and 10 days. During this period, it is also necessary for the woman to cover herself with other men.
According to Pakistani news website Geo News, the court today released Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan, lodged in Adiala jail, after a hearing that lasted for about 14 hours inside the jail premises a day earlier. Wife Bushra Bibi has been sentenced to seven years imprisonment each. Besides, a fine of Rs 5 lakh each has also been imposed on both of them.
While talking to Pakistani news channel Geo, Khawar Farid had said that I got married in the year 1989. At that time, Bushra and I were having a very good life. People used to give our example. Years later, when political demonstrations started in Islamabad, Imran Khan met Bushra Bibi for the first time under the guise of Piri Muridi (becoming someone’s follower).
