What did Ruchira Kamboj say?
Ruchira Kamboj said that our aim is to establish peace, security and stability in Afghanistan. The global community has objectives regarding Afghanistan, those are India’s priorities. These include dealing with terrorism, forming an inclusive government, protecting the rights of women, children and minorities, fighting against drugs and providing humanitarian aid. On 18-19 February, a meeting was held on the issue of Afghanistan in Doha, the capital of Qatar. The meeting was attended by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, special representatives of India, Canada, China, France and Germany, Iran, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates, Britain and the United States.

The meeting held in Qatar discussed the report of the Special Coordinator Ambassador, in which recommendations such as the appointment of a Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General and the establishment of an International Contact Group in Afghanistan were made. Kamboj said that India participated actively in this meeting. During the meeting, Guterres said that the global community needs to ensure that Afghanistan does not again become a haven for terrorists. Kamboj said that if an International Contact Group is formed in Afghanistan and all stakeholders will contribute to it, then it can prove to be very effective. Taliban representatives did not attend the meeting held in Doha. Kamboj said in the Security Council meeting that the situation in Afghanistan is very bad and the international community should continue humanitarian aid in Afghanistan. Kamboj said that India has focused on three major pillars in Afghanistan: food security, medical supplies and education. India has sent 50 thousand tonnes of wheat to Afghanistan. Scholarships have been given to Afghan students. One thousand Afghan students have been given online education. Also provided life saving medicines to hospitals and fought against drug addiction.
