Israel-Hamas War Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Cancels Mossad Chief David Barnea Visit To Qatar For Discussion Of Hostage Release

Israel-Hamas War Mossad Chief Qatar Trip Cancelled: The war between Israel and Hamas started on October 7, when Hamas fighters attacked Israel. After which Israel declared war. During this time, Hamas took about 240 Israeli people hostage, to release them, an agreement was signed between Israel and Hamas last month, which was initiated by Qatar and America. However, now for the second time Israel has canceled a planned visit by Mossad Director David Barnia to Qatar to resume talks on a possible second hostage release deal.

According to CNN report, Mossad Director David Barnia will not travel to Doha, the capital of Qatar, where previous talks have taken place on the release of hostages on behalf of Hamas activists in Gaza. Earlier on Wednesday (December 13), Israel’s Channel 13 first reported that the Israeli War Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, had canceled the visit and that senior Israeli officials would not go to Qatar to resume talks.

Question related to release of hostages
During the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, about 240 people, from children to the elderly, were taken hostage. Although dozens of people were freed under a release deal last month, many are still missing. It is believed that the Palestinian operative organization and other groups in Gaza have kept him hostage.

According to CNN, the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office believes there are 135 hostages left in Gaza, 115 of whom are alive. Apart from this, formal talks have not resumed since the breakdown of hostage talks taking place in Doha earlier this month. But CNN, citing multiple sources, said that Israel, America and Qatar are continuing to discuss ways to start the discussion.

Families of Israeli hostages angry
The families of Israeli hostages are angry with the decision to cancel Mossad Chief Barnia’s visit to Qatar and are demanding answers from the government. “We are fed up with indifference and impasse,” the families of the Israeli hostages said in a statement. Families are shocked by reports of the Mossad director rejecting a request to make an agreement for the release of the hostages.
