Pakistan: Aseefa Bhutto Zardari elected unopposed on the parliamentary seat vacated by her father becoming President

Islamabad: Asifa Bhutto Zardari, younger daughter of former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, was elected unopposed as a Member of Parliament on Friday. Asifa had participated in the by-election for NA-207 seat of Shaheed Benazirabad area of โ€‹โ€‹Sindh province. This seat became vacant after Asifa’s father Asif Ali Zardari was elected President. According to the notification issued by the area election officer, Asifa was elected unopposed after the withdrawal of names of three candidates. The candidates who withdrew their names included Abdul Rasool Brohi, Amanullah and Mairaj Ahmed.
