Pm Sharif Urges Int’l Community To Acknowledge Burden Of Afghan Refugees On Pakistan

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday appealed to the world community to accept the burden of Afghan refugees on Pakistan. The Pakistani Prime Minister said that our country is struggling with economic crisis, so we will send back undocumented Afghans and other people.

According to Pakistan’s PMO office, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Filippo Grandi is on a visit to Pakistan and Sharif spoke to him regarding refugees.

“The Prime Minister stressed that the international community must understand the burden being borne by Pakistan while hosting such a large refugee population and shoulder the collective responsibility,” the PMO statement said.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to meeting the safety and security needs of people in vulnerable situations, the Prime Minister underlined that the international community is aware of the socio-economic challenges and security challenges faced by Pakistan in this regard, according to the PMO statement. There is a need to be aware of the dangers.

United Nations High Commissioner praised Pakistan

The UN High Commissioner praised Pakistan for hosting millions of Afghan refugees over the past several decades. He assured that UNHCR will continue to work closely with Pakistan to meet the basic needs of Afghan refugees.
