A lot of preparations are going on in Ayodhya for the construction of Ram temple. Lord Shri Ram will be consecrated in this temple on 22 January 2024 in the presence of dignitaries of the country.

How was Ayodhya settled?
It is said that Vaivaswat Manu had settled Ayodhya in Satyayuga. It was here that Lord Shri Ram was born which is mentioned in Valmiki’s Ramayana. After years of Ram Rajya, when Shri Ram took Jal Samadhi, Ayodhya became deserted. Decades later, when King Vikramaditya of Ujjaini came here for hunting, he came to know that this was the Awadh land of Shri Ram. After this, he built a grand temple of Shri Ram here which had 84 pillars with black colored Kasauti stone.

In the 14th century, when the Mughals ruled India, Shri Ram’s birthplace was destroyed and Babri was built there. According to historians, the Ram Janmabhoomi temple was demolished by Babar’s commander Mir Banki in 1525.

The height of the main peak of the temple is 161 feet.
After years of controversy over Babri Masjid and Ram Janmabhoomi temple, now Ram temple has been rebuilt. A total of 67 acres of land was brought for the temple, of which the temple is being built on 2 acres. Earlier the height of the main peak of the temple was 128 feet. Now it will be 161 feet. There will be five domes and one main spire instead of three.
