Earlier, S Jaishankar participated in the Foreign Minister level meeting. On the India-Japan Special Strategic Partnership, he said that there will always be complexities in our relations, but with it will also come new opportunities. In such a situation, India and Japan will have to maintain contact with each other.

Discussion regarding bilateral relations
In the joint statement, Jaishankar said that both sides had extensive discussions on bilateral relations. “I also look forward to exchanging views on key regional and global issues,” he said. He told that the Indian Army is conducting joint exercises with the Japanese Self Defense Forces in Rajasthan.

Also talked about ways to increase contact between people
The Foreign Minister said that both sides also talked about ways to increase people-to-people contacts through education, tourism and culture. Jaishankar said he also talked about the need for a more streamlined visa regime for Indian tourists and other citizens to travel to Japan.

What did the Foreign Minister say about China?
He said he looked forward to welcoming his Japanese Foreign Minister to India for the next ‘two plus two’ ministerial dialogue. During this, when he was asked whether China is a part of the Global South, he said that I do not think that China was present in the Global South Summit. On Quad, Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar said that Quad discusses climate change. He has discussed energy and technology issues, but we have not clarified on nuclear energy.
