On October 7 last year, Gaza-based terrorist organization Hamas had fired five thousand rockets at Israel. After which a fierce war started between Hamas and Israel. In retaliation, Israel is continuously targeting Hamas positions in Gaza. The world is divided into two parts due to the war between Hamas and Israel. While on one hand many countries are advocating for Gaza, on the other hand there is no dearth in the number of countries friendly to Israel. A hearing was held in the top court of the United Nations regarding the ongoing war between the two. South Africa had urged the court to order Israel to stop its military action against Hamas terrorists. However, the court has refused to give such orders. It is noteworthy that during the hearing, Israel has been instructed to reduce deaths and damage during the military attack. Regarding this decision, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said that this is a special step towards the protection of Palestinians and justice.
‘The court proved our allegations true’
On the decision of the International Court of Justice, South African President Ramaphosa said that the decision of the United Nations Court in the genocide case has proved us right. The decision of the International Court of Justice has vindicated our allegations of genocide during the Israeli action against Hamas in Gaza.
We understand the pain of discrimination, violence- Ramaphosa
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Ramaphosa said the International Court of Justice’s decision was a victory for international law, human rights and, above all, justice. He said that some people have told us to mind our own business. Many people said that we have no status. But we still stood with the victims. Because we understand very well the pain of discrimination, dispossession and violence. We have been victims of crimes like apartheid. We feel pain. We lived and experienced it. We have lost many of our dear leaders, many had faced torture in jail.
We also exist in the world – Ramaphosa
Ramaphosa said that we also exist in the world, we cannot remain spectators. We will not see crimes in which people are being exploited. We stand for freedom for all. We always stand with justice.
